With Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner, it’s important to discuss what to look for when visiting older family members during the holiday season. Amid all the cooking, traveling, and gift wrapping, it’s easy to forget that our elderly loved ones often spend most of the year alone. As we age, daily tasks like reading, shopping, driving, cooking, going to doctor appointments, and taking care of the house and property become more challenging and sometimes impossible. Additionally, staying socially active can be difficult, leading to isolation, depression, and negative impacts on their mental and physical well-being. Our relatives may worry about burdening us with their needs, but it’s crucial to take a few minutes this year to observe and ask questions about how they’re coping with these day-to-day tasks.

Now I want to tell you about the benefits of independent living communities and how they can help you or your loved one stay safe and independent longer. Here at City Center Residents are still completely independent, and we encourage them to stay so. They can come and go as they please, have family visit and stay with them. We have studio apartments, 1-bedroom apt., and 2-bedroom apartments with space and prices to fit every budget starting at $1549.00 per month. At City Center, we encourage our residents to remain independent, while providing 24/7 on-site staff support. We are all-inclusive, so you won’t be surprised by any additional charges on your monthly bill. Utilities, including a landline phone, 120 channels of cable TV, internet, and WiFi are all included in the price of your apartment.

Our community is located in the beautiful historic district of Decatur, right beside the Old State Bank, offering a stunning view of the historic part of the city. We have a beautiful park with an amphitheater located right outside our community (they have food truck Fridays, concerts, and movies in the park, and you can find churches, museums, restaurants, and boutique shops just a few steps away. Our campus boasts a wide range of amenities, including a pool, exercise room, library, community activities room, BBQ grill, fire pit, raised garden beds that we use for planting herbs and vegetables, and three spacious courtyards that are perfect for relaxing or walking your furry best friend.

We provide three meals a day, with options for chef salad or baked potato if you’re not satisfied with the daily menu. You can choose to eat in the dining room or have your meal delivered to your apartment free of charge.

We also provide handicap-accessible transportation to doctor appointments and shopping, as well as assistance with online orders if you need it. Weekly housekeeping and daily trash service are included, and we even offer a laundry service where we wash, dry, and fold two baskets of laundry per week for only $50 per month.
